Meetings

In this picture I am beginning to draw the storyboard in one of our first meetings. Drawing the storyboard is quite a delicate proedure as you are constantly making ammedments throughtout the whole filming and production process.

Here most of our group (Dominique (Me), Chauntelle and Sara) are consulting eachother on how the storyboard looks and whether any further ammendments should be made.

Here the rest of my group is brainstorming ideas for our target audience and other issues that may have arisen.

In our meetings we also allocated roles for each member of the group. My role was to do the shooting script editing and filming of the opening. Sara's role was to act in the film opening and contribute to the storyboard. Chauntelle's role was to be in charge of locations and equipment and Oyin's role was to take care of props we required.

Evaluation Activity

Evaluation Activity - Who would be the audience of your media product?

This is a picture of a member of our target audience. We chose teenage girls for our target audience because they can become more emotionally attached to the protagonist as the protagonist is also a young teenage girl aroound the same age as pictured above. This teenage girl would shop in top girl shops like Tommy Girl, Topshop, H & M and Claire's accessories. She would listen to a variety of R & B and soft pop, her favourite artist could be anyone between Beyonce and Avril Lavine. Their favourite film would be Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging or Mean Girls. Her favourite programme would be Glee on E4. A typical day in her life would be she wakes up at midday and spends at least an hour in the bathroom washing herself, her hair and putting on make up. Then she will spend another hour getting dressed and actually doing her hair. Then she will meet her friends and spend the rest of the day shopping and having fun. hen when she comes home she will spend the rest of the night on the phone to her best friend gossiping about people ad boys that they fancy.

Character Profile

Character Profile

Duane Amarquaye - Character: Owen

This is one of the main characters in our film opening, Owen is the boy that Lisa is besotted with. He has to look smart as he is the person that impresses her without him even knowing. He has a babyface which makes Lisa practically fall in love with him. He wears a suit and tie so that he stands out from others and a blue tie as blue represents purity within.

Sara Abel - Character: Lisa

This is the protagonist Lisa who begins to tell the audience her story with the voiceover and she introduces the other protagonist Owen. She too looks quite smart because she wants to try to get Owen's attention. She has a pink shirt and a pink scarf to show that she has ambitions tobecome an extremely feminine girl like she sees others. However the grey blazor connotes that although she has ambitions parts of her life are still dull and grey especially as she hasn't really fit into her school yet.

Main Protagonists - OWEN AND LISA

These are the main protagonists and here we can see the relationship between them. We can see that Lisa is only focused on Owen. She isn't paying attention to anything apart from him and she is very mesmorised by how he looks. Owen is doing what he does best: being smart and smiling graciously while others pay attention to him.

Saul Bass & Kyle Cooper
Saul Bass
  • An award-winning film maker
  • Best known for design on animated motion picture films
  • He designed title sequences included:
  1. It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world
  2. Casino
  3. Goodfellas
  4. Cape Fear
  5. The age of Innocence
  6. North by Northwest
  7. Psycho

Kyle Cooper

  1. Modern designer of motion picture title sequences
  2. He created the title sequence of American crime film:
  • Se7en
  • Flubber
  • Spider-man 1 & 2
  • Tropic Thunder
  • Dawn of the Dead
  • The Mummy
  • Zoolander
  • The Orphan

"Kyle Cooper is one of the most innovative film designers since Saul Bass."

What I noticed about Kyle Cooper's work "Se7en"

  • Doesn't give away the plot at all
  • It gives the audience a lot of internal unanswered questions
  • Mainly Enigma codes.
  • No dialogue
  • Doesn't show any characters.

What I notice about Saul Bass' work "The Man with the Golden Arm"

  • Enigma codes mainly
  • No characters are shown
  • There are no clues to the plot
  • No dialogue
I noticed that the techniques that they used were very similar which meant you could tell whether a film was made by them or another film maker.
